"Do or Do Not. There is No Try."
"Do or do not. There is no try." - Yoda
Obviously that is not a quote from the Yoga Sutras or Bhagavad Gita but Yoda was one enlightened cat. I am starting with this quote because as I reflect on my teacher training I noticed I was saying the word "try" quite a bit. But why? Why did I continue to choose the word "try?" As opposed to "I will do it?" Perhaps it was fear of failure. Perhaps it's doubt I can do it.. perhaps both. How many times have we made someone a half-hearted promise by telling them you'll "try?" How many times have you told yourself that same half-hearted promise?
Once we release the word "try" we release our fear and doubt and are only left with "do or do not." We start to be completely honest with ourselves and others. It's pretty liberating isn't it? So in the words of Yoda "Do or do not. There is no try."
